Sand & Stone

Two friends were walking through the desert. During some point of the journey, they had an argument and one friend slapped the other one in the face. The one who got slapped was hurt, but without saying anything, wrote in the sand:'Today my best friend slapped me in the face.'They kept on walking until they found an oasis, where they decided to take a bath. The one who had been slapped got stuck in the mire and started drowning, but the friend saved him. After he recovered from the near drowning, he wrote on a stone:'Today my best friend saved my life.'The friend who had slapped and saved his best friend asked him, 'After I hurt you, you wrote in the sand and now, you write on a stone, why?'The friend replied, 'When someone hurts us we should write it down in sand, where winds of forgiveness can erase it away. But, when someone does something good for us, we must engrave it in stone where no wind can ever erase it.'Learn to write your hurts in the sand and to carve your benefits in stone. They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but then an entire life to forget them. Do not value the things you have in your life, but value who you have in your life!

GENEROSITY

Mahatma Gandhi went from city to city, village to village collecting funds for the Charkha Sangh. During one of his tours he addressed a meeting in Orissa. After his speech a poor old woman got up. She was bent with age, her hair was grey and her clothes were in tatters. The volunteers tried to stop her, but she fought her way to the place where Gandhiji was sitting. "I must see him," she insisted and going up to Gandhiji touched his feet. Then from the folds of her sari she brought out a copper coin and placed it at his feet. Gandhiji picked up the copper coin and put it away carefully. The Charkha Sangh funds were under the charge of Jamnalal Bajaj. He asked Gandhiji for the coin but Gandhiji refused. "I keep cheques worth thousands of rupees for the Charkha Sangh," Jamnalal Bajaj said laughingly "yet you won't trust me with a copper coin." "This copper coin is worth much more than those thousands," Gandhiji said. "If a man has several lakhs and he gives away a thousand or two, it doesn't mean much. But this coin was perhaps all that the poor woman possessed. She gave me all she had. That was very generous of her. What a great sacrifice she made. That is why I value this copper coin more than a crore of rupees."

The Mystery of Silence

Silence cannot really be described. It is not the absence of sound. It makes it possible to notice sound. It is still, but its stillness is constantly moving. It is nothing, but a nothing filled with everything. It is aware, but may move unaware. It is love, but a love that lets hatred be. It is wise, but its wisdom only fools can know. It has a shape, the shape of this moment. It has its own sound, but can only be heard when the mind is still. Unceasingly, it speaks Truth without uttering a single word.
This Silent Mystery is prior to mind. It also moves as mind, but the mind cannot imagine what it is to disappear into Silence. That is why it is so often afraid of deep silence. Yet it is in silence that we can discover the truth of what is always here, always undivided, and always in peace, even if the moment does not seem peaceful. The Silence of our true nature is deeply, profoundly, and unceasingly present. It cannot be lost by the mind’s confusions nor gained by its clarity, for this awake and eternal Silence does not come and go.
We do not need long years on a meditation cushion to ask ourselves: What is here when we are not trying to arrive there? What is here, so close we do not notice? Who am I when I don’t go to my mind for an answer? What knows cannot be known except to Itself. It is a Mystery prior to any and all concepts. We might say it is what silences every thought and every concept—even those called truth, God, Buddha, world, or the concept of a “me;” yet it is simultaneously their source.
In This that dreams the world and the play of existence each moment, everything continually appears and disappears into an ever-present Silence that knows no separation between background and foreground, divine and human, teacher and student, enlightened and unenlightened, God and flea. It is undivided Silence, empty of nothing, continually moving, continually still. It is what we are. It is where the mind cannot go, where mind must remain in unknowing.

Positive Thinking For A New Beginning

Are you good at positive thinking? Do you expect good things to happen and so they do?

Or do you say "Nothing good ever happens to me" - and so it doesn't? Without positive thinking, nothing will!

Do you want to become more positive in yourself and in your outlook on life?

You do? Fantastic!

To do this you are going to have to change the inner you. You have to believe that you can become the positive confident person you want to be. Try to be this way every day. An hour after lunch will not be enough!

Still sound good? OK!

The next time you find yourself about to say "I can't", change your words to "I can and I will" - and do it! Be determined to improve yourself.

Negative thoughts get negative results - that's definite! So what must you do? Start thinking positive!

"Not easy" did I hear you say?

It's just a matter of adjusting your self-talk. Your mental attitude needs to be changed so that you start believing in yourself.

Start listening to what you say. Are your comments and ideas negative? You aren't going become positive if you always say negative things. Do you hear yourself say "I could never do that", "I never have any luck", "I never get things right". Wow - that's negative self-talk!

Try saying "I am going to do that", "I am so lucky" "I always try to get things right". Can you hear how much better that sounds?

Did I hear you say "Aaarrgh! but what if that's not true?"

Wouldn't you rather the positive statements come true than the negative? I know I would! Do you know that if you say something often enough your subconscious will accept it as true?

The next time you begin to say something negative about yourself, instantly turn it into a positive comment. Sit back and notice how good you feel.

You will also see that people will be drawn to you to listen to you what you have to say. They will like being around someone who always looks on the bright side of things!

When you are sure of yourself you are confident. You can be like that! You can you know! This can be you - start working on yourself now!

Don't forget, the next time you are about to say "I can't", change your words to "I can and I will" - and do it! Be determined to better yourself. Your transformation will be amazing when you work this way towards your personal growth and empowerment.

There are many books available about positive power thinking. One of my favorites is The Power of Positive Thinking by Norman Vincent Peale. I first got it from the library and gained such a lot from it that I bought a copy for myself to read and to keep.

When you change your thought pattern, you will be rewarded by how you feel. Trust me you will! I know I have been there and done that! It's fantastic to have a positive outlook on life. Nothing will seem as bad as it used to.

Doesn't that sound amazing?

You will be able to stay in control and not become frustrated with yourself. Life won't seem to crowd in on you and you will be more able to cope with the things that used to annoy the heck out of you!

The new positive you will feel so sure of things. What used to be a problem will be a challenge because you know you can sort it out - why? Because you are now a positive thinker and nothing will get you down!

Your inner strength will grow and grow with all the fantastic positive thinking you are doing. Believe that you can be this way if you try. Remain optimistic - dump all the negative thoughts! You don't need them! All they do is drag you down.

Let positive thinking become a normal part of your life and enjoy the reward it brings. Be a winner!

You will love the way you are - so will everyone else - just you wait and see!

How can you change your attitude?

when dealing with a situation try and find the good in it. Focus on the good; do not dwell on the negative. Depending on the situation, you sometimes have to look hard to find the good but it is there. By doing this you start changing attitudes to a positive attitude rather than a negative attitude. - Remember the saying, "you can't change other people, you can only change yourself." So if someone tells you that you have a poor attitude, don't try and convenience them otherwise as you won't change their mind. When someone tells us this we have a tendency to take a defensive attitude, instead focus on how you can change.
Can you change attitudes of other people?
- Again, I would refer to the saying, "you can't change other people, you can only change yourself". You will end up becoming very frustrated if you try and change other people. Remember, you can only change yourself and how you deal with that individual.
The story below is a story of attitude. The individual in this story could have easily developed a "poor me" attitude, but instead he chose to focus on what he can do, his attitude reflects what a positive outlook on life can be like.
Focusing on what you can do!

Positive Thought- A Strong Tool Of Success

Once upon a time there was bunch of tiny frogs that arranged a running competition. The goal was to reach the top of very high tower. A big crowd had gathered around the tower to see the race and cheer on the contestants. The race began. Honestly, no one in the crowd really believed that the tiny frogs would reach the top of tower. You heard statements such as, "They will NEVER make it to the top. Or: Not a chance that they will succeed. The tower is too high!"The tiny frogs began collapsing, one by one, except for those, who in fresh tempo were climbing higher and higher. The crowd continued to yell, "Its too difficult!!! No one will make it!"More tiny frogs got tired and gave up, but one continued higher and higher and higher. This one wouldn't give up!At the end, everyone else had given up climbing the tower, except for one tiny frog. After a big effort, he was the only one who reached the top! THEN all the other tiny frogs naturally wanted to know how this one frog managed to do it? A contestant asked the tiny frog how he had found the strength to succeed and reach the goal. It turned out.... that the winner was deaf!!!! Never listen to other people tendencies to be negative or pessimistic.... because they take your most wonderful dreams and wishes away from you- the ones you have in your heart! --- Author Unknown Just do it! Do what you want!
